Ginny Lee

Ginny Lee is Assistant Managing Editor/Sundays and Planning. She oversees planning and editing of the Daily Herald's Sunday and Monday editions, coordinating Page 1 plans and design by working with the entire team of Daily Herald editors. Lee also serves as an editor on the Edge staff, the news organization's senior reporting staff, leading investigative work, breaking news, political coverage and Big Picture analysis pieces.

Lee loves to work on stories that take readers beyond the headlines and explain the how and why of our governments and leadership. For example, she was the lead editor on a nationally recognized investigation of how the lucrative red-light camera system works, who profits and who is most likely to get caught. The series won state and national awards and led to changes in state law aimed at curbing abuse.

Prior to becoming an editor, Lee covered politics in DuPage County, municipal governments in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties and public school systems in Cook and Lake counties.

In 2008, she was named the Paddock Publications Manager of the Year, and in 1996, she received the Editorial Department's Part-time Employee Excellence Award.

Lee has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Southern Illinois University and a master's degree from the Public Affairs Reporting program now affiliated with the University of Illinois-Springfield.
