Minn.'s Harvin named top offensive rookie

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Minnesota's Percy Harvin says The Associated Press 2009 Offensive Rookie of the Year award is a "tremendous honor" but insists a season with less than a Super Bowl trophy would still be a "failure."

The AP announced the award Wednesday. Harvin told reporters by phone he's pleased, but is focused on the playoffs.

Harvin was the fourth wide receiver taken in last year's draft, the 22nd overall pick out of Florida. He was a runaway winner with 41 of 50 votes from a nationwide panel of sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league.

Harvin had 60 receptions for 790 yards and six touchdowns and rushed 15 times for 135 yards. He also took back 42 kickoffs for an average of 27.5 yards per return and two touchdowns.
