Government ignores will of the people
In the Jan. 1 Fence Post, George Kocan wrote "But for Democrats, arguments do not have to make any sense." Oh, the irony. Republicans are lying about virtually everything, every day.
He cannot distance himself from the Republicans in Washington - the party has been completely taken over by the right wing fringe. Anyone who continues to call himself a Republican accepts their lies.
The point of Kocan's letter was that the way to deal with political corruption is prosecution, not campaign reform. He is half right and half wrong. The problem is that what we are seeing nowadays, on all levels, is corruption of our government. Big corporations are buying congressional seats with enormous campaign contributions.
Whether the senator or representative in question voted his conscience all along, or has been corrupted by those contributions, is irrelevant. The end result is a government that ignores the will of the people.
