Bloomingdale names new trustee, plan commission members

Several new faces will join Bloomingdale government this week, as they step in to vacancies on both the village board and the plan and zoning commission.

Today, Jeff Dolce will be sworn in to fill the opening left by longtime trustee John Dabrowski.

Dabrowski stepped down after 10 years to take office as the Bloomingdale Township assessor, a post he won in April but didn't fill until last month.

As a member of the plan and zoning commission since 2000, as well as its chairman since 2006, Dolce was chosen from four other candidates for the trustee seat.

Bloomingdale Village President Bob Iden said he interviewed each candidate personally.

"I felt (Dolce) would best fit in as a team player," Iden said. "Because of his involvement and dedication to the plan commission for so many years ... you know them, they know you and they know what the standards are."

To fill Dolce's seat on the plan commission, village leaders on Monday appointed former Bloomingdale police officer Len Jaster, a watch commander who retired from the police department in 2009 after about 30 years. His term expires May 1.

Village officials also moved Monday to fill an additional vacancy on the plan and zoning commission, which opened early last year when Dan Proctor stepped down due to a work conflict.

Political newcomer Alex Zevan III, a chiropractor and member of the Rotary Club of Bloomingdale-Roselle, will fill the seat that expires on May 1, 2012.
