United Engravers uses wind

SCHAUMBURG - United Engravers Inc. recently invested in wind power and sustainable renovations to its remodeled offices. The local printing plate manufacturer anticipates increasing sustainability practices in the future. United enrolled in Green-e Energy's program, purchasing 25 percent wind energy. In the fall, the company began making room for more offices on its second floor. With help from S.L.S Plumbing, United installed cabinets certified through the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's Environmental Stewardship Program. The ceiling tiles and carpet base were both processed with 50 percent recycled material. Additional green resources include L.E.D. lighting, low-energy and non-Freon heating & air conditioning units.
