No one hurt in West Chicago apartment fire

No one was hurt in a West Chicago apartment fire late Sunday that left one man displaced.

It occurred on the 1200 block of Kings Circle at about 11 p.m. Sunday, officials said in a news release Monday. Firefighters arrived to find the resident of the apartment, who said flames and smoke were showing inside.

Firefighters evacuated the building, as well as an adjoining apartment complex, and battled the fire inside, officials said.

The fire was contained to the apartment where it started, officials said. Residents in the other units of the fire building were allowed to return to their homes Monday morning, the statement said. However, the apartment where the fire started was deemed uninhabitable, officials said.

Winfield and Wheaton fire departments assisted in putting out the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but is does appear to be suspicious, officials said.
