Bears Gould usually Mr. Consistent
In five seasons with the Bears, Robbie Gould has made all 16 of his field-goal attempts in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter, and he's 4-for-6 in overtime after missing a 45-yarder Monday against Minnesota.
Gould's only previous OT miss was a 37-yarder in 2006 against Tampa Bay in a game he later won with a 25-yarder.
Lance Briggs was the Bears' only Pro Bowl player this season, but he says Gould should be joining him at the all-star game, which is in Miami this year.
"Robbie Gould is as consistent as it gets," Briggs said, smiling and pausing for effect, "outside of that last field goal (attempt)."
Quarterback problems: Daunte Culpepper is 0-9 as a starter in his two years with Detroit, and he has a 55.7 passer rating this season with 1 TD and 5 interceptions.
In three of the Lions' last four games in which rookie Matthew Stafford did not start at quarterback, they failed to score a touchdown. Under Culpepper, the Lions were defeated by Green Bay 26-0 in Week 6 and Baltimore 48-3 in Week 14.
Drew Stanton started earlier this week when the Lions lost to San Francisco 20-6, but he suffered a sprained ankle and was replaced by Culpepper. Stanton, who has zero TD passes and 6 picks for a 26.1 passer rating, is "probable" for Sunday.
Injury update: Safeties Al Afalava and Danieal Manning and wide receiver Johnny Knox did not practice Friday and were listed as "doubtful" on the injury report, but they will not play Sunday.
Linebacker Lance Briggs (back), safety Craig Steltz (foot) and defensive tackle Tommie Harris (knee) all were listed as "probable" after participating fully in Friday's practice.
Strong safety Kevin Payne (ankle) was removed from the injury report and is expected back in the starting lineup with free safety Josh Bullocks.
