Revoke No Child Left Behind Act
I am concerned about how Illinois uses the ACT as its test for the No Child Left Behind Act. The Act allows each state to set a test that all students must pass by the 2013-2014 school year.
It also holds teachers responsible for how students perform on the test. The ACT is designed for some students to fail. Does this mean that teachers will be fired if a majority of students do not pass the ACT? How can Illinois meet the standards set by No Child Left Behind Act? I think that the Act is causing more problems than it intends to fix. This needs to be removed from books so that less stress is placed on teachers and students alike.
