Townships to run PACE buses

On Jan. 1, both Barrington Township and Cuba Township will take over from the village of Barrington the running of the Barrington area's PACE bus service for seniors and people with special needs.

Following the village of Barrington's announcement last spring that it would be dropping support for the program in 2010, representatives from the two townships as well as the Barrington Area Council on Aging have been working on a plan to maintain it.

There will be no changes to the current service when the takeover occurs.
