DePaul volleyball coach resigns after four seasons

DePaul will make changes in the leadership of its volleyball program as head coach Amy Hardison has resigned, athletics director Jean Lenti Ponsetto announced Wednesday.

"We want to thank Amy for her service to our student-athletes and DePaul University," said Ponsetto.

Hardison spent four seasons directing the program. This year's team finished 6-23 overall and 0-14 in the Big East after back-to-back 7 win seasons.

During Hardison's first three seasons, the Blue Demons were annually awarded the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, which honors teams who achieve a cumulative GPA above a 3.30. In addition, 30 student-athletes earned Big East All-Academic Team honors including the entire 2007-08 squad.

"After much thought I have decided to resign from coaching," said Hardison. "The last 12 years have been some of the best of my life. However, I look forward to spending time at home with my husband and nine-month-old son. With my husband starting full-time seminary, we are very excited about starting the next phase of our life."

The search for a new coaching staff will begin immediately.
