Former Streamwood coach pleads guilty to assault
A former assistant girl's basketball coach at Streamwood High School was sentenced to eight years in prison Monday in Rolling Meadows Third Municipal District after pleading guilty to criminal sexual assault.
Robert J. Hope Jr., of the 500 block of Pembrook Court in Crystal Lake, had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old former student for about a year, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Mike Andre. Hope, 36, and the girl reportedly met at her home, Andre said.
He was arrested in May, after the girl told her mother about the relationship, and her mother informed police. At the time of his arrest, he taught at a Streamwood middle school.
The law requires Hope to register as a sex offender upon his release.
