Bears waive LB Cato June

LAKE FOREST -- The Chicago Bears elevated T James Marten to the active roster from the practice squad and waived vested veteran LB Cato June today.

Marten has spent the entire regular season on the Bears practice squad. He originally entered the NFL as a third-round selection (67th overall) of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2007 NFL Draft. He was on the Cowboys 53-man roster in 2007 but was inactive for all 16 regular season contests and the postseason.

Marten was claimed off waivers by the Oakland Raiders before Week 2 of the 2008 season. He made his NFL debut on September 21 at Buffalo as a reserve with a role on special teams before being inactive for the final 14 contests.

June spent two weeks with the Bears, appearing in one contest (December 6 vs. St. Louis) on special teams before being inactive last Sunday.
