Socialized medicine shouldn't create fear

I am outraged by the comments on health care in the newspaper. I cannot fathom why people are so afraid of it.

Let's start by calling a spade a spade. The bill being voted on is a socialized method of health care. If you jumped out of your seat when you read that word, maybe you should take a look around you. We have socialized public schools, libraries and police and fire departments. Why does no one worry about these, but they fear socialized medicine?

An intelligent person would realize that government programs do not diminish freedoms. HR 3692 does not nullify freedom of speech, freedom of religion, or the right to a trial by jury. As far as I can see, the protection against illegal searches and seizures, the right to bear arms, and protection from self-incrimination will be affected by government health care as much as they are by public schools. In short, socialized medicine does not erase freedoms, rather it grants more freedom for people to go to the doctor no matter their financial status.

Lastly, do not be scared by a fine for not buying the government policy because the same thing happens if you neglect to pay your other taxes, too.
