Man crushed in Mundelein workplace accident
A 44-year-old Riverwoods man was trapped under approximately 5,000 lbs. of sheet metal for over an hour at a business in Mundelein before he was found by the business owner and airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville Monday night.
Stanley R. Burniks was found trapped at his place of work at 28974 Gossell Road around 8:18 p.m. Monday, Lake County Sheriff's Police officials said. Police said Burniks was working in the metal shop by himself when a rack gave way and buried him under 5,000 lbs. of sheet metal. Burniks was flown by Flight For Life in critical condition. Police are investigating.
