Stevenson charity drive:
Organizers of Stevenson High School's 25th annual Give-A-Thon are looking for donations. Led by the National Honor Society, the event aims to provide holiday gifts for 200 families in the Lake County area, collect enough food to stock the Vernon Township food pantry for one year and collect diapers, baby formula and other items Palatine-based Society for the Preservation of Human Dignity. Donated items will be collected at the Lincolnshire school on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Although the general public can't drop off items at the school, they can make financial donations by visiting d125.org.
Dist. 128 committee to meet:
The Libertyville-Vernon Hills Area High School District 128 board's program and personnel committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7 in the Libertyville High library, 708 W. Park Ave. Several staffing changes and some new district policies are on the agenda.
Donate for troops:
Mundelein Community Bank is coordinating a care-package campaign for military troops abroad. Items such as soap, shampoo, M&Ms and toothpaste are being collected at the bank, 1110 W. Maple Ave. Most products will be sent to troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. The collection will continue through Friday. Dec. 11. For more information, call the bank at (847) 837-1110.
