Pairings released for 35th Elgin Holiday Tournament

Defending champion Neuqua Valley, off to a 5-0 start to the current boys basketball season, will take on Dundee-Crown, which finished fourth in Class 4A last season but is just 1-3 so far this season, at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 21 in the second first-round game of the 35th annual Elgin Holiday Tournament. The game will be a rematch of D-C's 64-59 win over the Wildcats in last season's NIU supersectional.

Neuqua beat Glenbrook South 69-61 in last year's title game at Elgin.

The tournament will open at 8:45 a.m. on Dec. 21 with Batavia taking on Rolling Meadows. After the D-C vs. Neuqua Valley game, Fremd plays Glenbrook South at noon and Buffalo Grove takes on newcomer Willowbrook at 1:30 p.m.

The bottom half of the bracket begins at 3:15 p.m. with Glenbard East playing Highland Park. At 5 p.m., Larkin faces Rockford Guilford and at 6:30 p.m., host Elgin faces Rockford Auburn. The first round concludes at 8 p.m. with Hoffman Estates, which beat Fremd 63-54 in last year's third-place game, meeting Wheaton North.

The second round will be played Dec. 22, the semifinal round Dec. 23 and the championship round Dec. 26.
