'Baskets of Love' help those in need

I would like to extend my gratitude to a group of generous men who belong to the Chicagoland Italian-American Charitable Organization based in Bloomingdale. On Sunday, Nov. 22, the men along with their families assembled 500 "Baskets of Love" to be distributed to needy families in the Chicagoland area.

These baskets were distributed to churches, needy families, and other organizations from Chicago to the suburbs. They didn't put any emphasis on religion or race - they just wanted to help families in need, as many people are without jobs at this time. The "Baskets of Love" went to Chicago and many suburbs.

CIACO has been distributing these baskets for at least 10 years. CIACO is a group of men who have big hearts and try to do good for all in need. Evidently reporters do not work on Sundays so no one could cover the event. Maybe if we had a celebrity among them we would get some coverage. I noticed Oprah, Paula Dean and many other celebrities gave out turkeys and were on TV. Thank goodness we don't have to have media coverage - we would still make the baskets from our hearts. Our baskets weighed at least 50 pounds each and contained a turkey, dressing, potatoes, vegetables, cereal, cake mix and much more.

The Chicagoland Italian-American Charitable Organization also distributes toys during Christmas.
