Voter program set:

The Men's Club and Sisterhood of North Suburban Synagogue Beth El are co-sponsoring a voter education program Sunday, Dec. 6. The candidates running for the 10th Congressional District seat have been invited to attend and speak. The event will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the synagogue, 1175 Sheridan Road, Highland Park. It is open to the public.

District 128 committee meeting:

The Libertyville-Vernon Hills Area High School District 128 board's facilities and finance committee will meet Monday, Dec. 7. The session will begin at 6:15 p.m. at the Libertyville High library, 708 W. Park Ave. A discussion about potential repairs to the Libertyville High pool and other issues are on the agenda.

Holiday train in Gurnee:

Canadian Pacific Railway's Holiday Train is scheduled to pull into Gurnee about 5 p.m. today on the edge of Viking Park off Old Grand Avenue. Thousands of lights will decorate 14 rail cars. Festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. in anticipation of the train's arrival, with an array of music, treats donated by food vendors and Santa Claus. The event is free, but visitors are asked to bring nonperishable food items. The cause will support the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Gurnee Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the event.
