Holiday music events set for Vernon Hills High School
Student musicians from Vernon Hills High School have a pair of events on tap to entertain community members this holiday season.
The Vernon Hills High School Music Department will present its annual Holiday Music Festival on Thursday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the school's Auditorium, 145 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills. The concert includes performances by the school's choirs and orchestras.
There is no admission fee for this concert, but in keeping with the giving spirit of the season, donations for the Vernon Township Food Pantry will be collected at the door. Nonperishable food items such as canned soups, cereals and pasta will be greatly appreciated. Cash donations also will be collected and presented to the Vernon Township Food Pantry for the purchase of additional food supplies.
The Vernon Hills High School Chamber Choir will present its 2nd Annual Madrigal Dessert on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m. in the Community Room of the Sullivan Community Center, 635 N. Aspen Drive, Vernon Hills.
This event will feature the Chamber Choir providing entertainment through Renaissance-era madrigals, motets, & part-songs (in Italian, Latin, French, Hebrew, and English) as well as familiar holiday carols.
The $12 ticket price includes desserts such as German chocolate cake, carrot cake, pumpkin pie, apple pie, assorted cookies, éclairs, tarts, cheesecakes and cream puffs as well as coffee, hot wassail (cider) and water. Program length is about 90 minutes.
Reservations are required, and will be accepted on a first turned in, first saved basis. Reservations will not be considered reserved until payment is received. Seating will be at round tables of 10 people per table. Forms can be downloaded at vhhscougars.org/madrigaldessert. There will be no tickets mailed or given out, only reservations held. Seating is limited to the first 160 reserved tickets. All reservations must be made by Monday, Dec. 7.
