Urge Manzullo to support health bill

It is with much sadness that I have learned that Congressman Manzullo has caved in to the severe pressure of special interest groups by not voting for this recent historic health care initiative. With another vote upcoming, I implore him to reconsider his stand, and stand up for his constituency - the American citizens that need health care reform.

This is not the first time I'm talking with or about our congressman. I've faxed him and phoned his office requesting that he take the virtuous and leadership role to ensure that every American citizen receive quality and cost effective health care. We are not a socialist government, as the scare mongers preach. We are a democracy.

In the '80s, my family and I lived in both England and Germany, receiving very good health care under their forms of public health care. What is our problem?

As a child in the 50s, my father would spank us if we were playing in any manner that he felt we could hurt ourselves and require medical attention. We had no health insurance coverage; and it caused my father terrible worry and prevented me and my siblings any opportunity to have fun as children - always being reprimanded not to climb trees, ride a bike, etc. Our mother was sympathetic to our needs to play and we would do so with her approval when our father was absent.

Families today are in that same situation - continually worrying about their health care and costs related to it.

One elderly gentleman left his prescription at the Osco drug counter because he only had enough money to either eat or buy his medication. It was a shocking event to witness here in this great country, right here in McHenry County. Something is very wrong, and it's about time we make it right.

Please contact Congressman Manzullo and let your voice be heard. Beckon him to vote "yes" so this health care vote is passed in the upcoming final House vote.
