Holiday on the Farm is Wood Dale tradition
What started almost a decade ago as new way to raise money for the Wood Dale Historical Society has turned into a winter tradition for many Wood Dale families.
The annual Holiday on the Farm, happening from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Yesterday's Farm Museum in Wood Dale, has become an event that attracts generations of village residents.
"When it first started, things were more low-key," said Ann Morong, a curator at the museum. "We would try things out, see what works, what doesn't. And now we're a group that I would say is very active."
The event happens at the historic farm at 850 N. Wood Dale Road and includes a craft fair, bake sale, white elephant items, silent auction, raffle and children's activities. A musician also will perform on piano and lead holiday carols.
Proceeds from the raffle and silent auction benefit the historical society and its exhibits, other annual fests and preservation efforts.
Morong plans the event with co-curator Judi Ryan, and said there is always a strong turnout.
Admission is free. For details, call (630) 595-0360 or (630) 766-4216.
