Tuesday's Lake County roundup

Vernon Hills' boys basketball team won its fourth straight Tuesday night.

Playing on the road, the Cougars captured a 52-48 win over Carmel Catholic in nonconference action.

Junior DaVaris Daniels led Vernon Hills (4-1) with 19 points, while senior Chris Morgan added 16. Senior Brandon Curry had nine for the Cougars.

Carmel (3-3) was led in scoring by junior Doug Meyer with 14 points. Senior Jonathan Huisel had nine.

Richmond-Burton 52, Round Lake 41: The visiting Rockets outscored the Panthers 18-7 in the fourth quarter after the nonconference game was tied 34-34 after three.

"We missed a lot of open looks and had some bad turnovers (in the fourth)," Round Lake coach Howard Kravets said. "And (Richmond-Burton) hit some shots."

Round Lake (0-5) received 11 points apiece from sophomore Juddon Carter and senior Jon Martinez. In his first game of the season, junior Jake Paulsen scored 8 points. Senior Tim Kelley had seven.
