More probation for St. Charles woman involved in heroin death
A St. Charles woman charged with obstructing justice in an Elburn teen's heroin-related death has been sentenced to additional time on probation in an unrelated case downstate.
Lindsey Parker, 23, of the 4000 block of Royal Fox Drive, had faced up to seven years in prison for violating her probation in a 2006 heroin case in McLean County. Last week, she was sentenced to 48 more months of probation, court records show.
Parker is one of three people charged in Kane County with obstructing justice, a Class 2 felony, in the December 2007 death of 17-year-old Michael York. Authorities say she and Maple Park residents Jordan Billek, 19, and Nathan L. Green, 23, left York on a Chicago street to avoid prosecution after his suspected heroin overdose.
Parker admitted violating terms of her probation in McLean County by failing to verify she completed substance abuse treatment and failing to provide a urine sample for a drug screen in January. She initially was placed on probation after pleading guilty Dec. 21, 2007 - just five days after Kane County authorities say York was abandoned in Chicago - in connection with an Aug. 30, 2006 traffic stop in which she was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
McLean County Assistant State's Attorney Adam Ghrist, who prosecuted Parker there, could not be reached for comment.
Parker has pleaded not guilty to the Kane County allegations. Her next court date there is Dec. 3 in front of Judge Allen M. Anderson.
