Arlington Heights man dies from injuries in September accident
Services will be Wednesday for Paul Mescher, 23, of Arlington Heights. He is the second young man to die from injuries received in a Sept. 20 Wisconsin car accident.
Mescher, a 2004 graduate of Buffalo Grove High School and a student at Northern Illinois University, died Nov. 19. Another passenger in the car, Alexander Hartung, a 2005 graduate of Stevenson High School and a senior at Northern Illinois, died soon after the accident.
The condition of the driver, Mark A. Rhine, a 2005 graduate of Buffalo Grove High School, was not known Monday, but he was critically injured in the accident, said Tim Zeigle, chief deputy of the Sawyer County sheriff's department, based in Hayward. The accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed, he said.
Rhine lost control of the car in a rural area of Bass Lake Township, the sheriff's department said at the time of the accident. The car crossed the road and crashed backward into a tree.
Visitation for Mescher will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine.
Services will begin with prayers at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Church, 445 N. Benton St., Palatine.
