Outlook Coach Babbi Barreiro says she has high expectations from her 17th team at Barrington. "We had a real solid season a year ago," said the dean of Mid-Suburban League coaches. "And the kids have worked real hard in the off-season, which is great." Harris, an all-area outside hitter, returns to the front line after playing club volleyball last winter while Whigham returns to the lineup after missing last season with her second ACL injury in as many years. Whigham was leading the Fillies in scoring and rebounding when she suffered her first ACL midway through her freshman season. "I think we have some good athleticism and we're very deep as far as kids who can contribute," Barreiro said. "It looks like we'll be aggressive on defensive and we'll push the ball up the court. But we can also play half-court with a good post presence." The Fillies' goal is to finish on top in the MSL West. But it won't be easy," Barreiro said. "There are never any easy games in the West. It's very competitive." Barreiro believes Abby Kirchoff, who had double-digit scoring games as a sophomore including a season-high 24 against Fenwick, is one of the premier players in the area. "I think she'll score a lot of points but we have six other girls who can score, too," the coach said. "So I think we will be very competitive. The kids are working real hard. It's a fun atmosphere."
