Scouting Wheaton Academy Warriors

Wheaton Academy Warriors

Coach Paul Ferguson.

Last year 17-9, 6-2, third in the Private School League; lost 62-57 to Rochelle in a Class 3A Rochelle sectional semifinal.

Top players Jon Burdette, sr., G; Tate Fritz, jr., F; Quinn Gorski, sr., G; Luke Johnson, jr., F; Chris Lesner, sr., F; Lars Olson, so., G; Brian Pell, sr., G; Anthony Ritchie, sr., F; Tim Rusthoven, sr., C.

Scouting report Six-foot-9 William & Mary recruit Rusthoven (20 points a game, 11 assists, 4.7 blocks) and returning starters Gorski, Pell and the 6-4 Ritchie welcome another skilled big man with college looks, 6-8 Aurora Christian transfer Johnson, who averaged 6 points with 4 rebounds as a sophomore. Rusthoven stressed off-season ball handling, and with shooters Burdette, Gorski and Fritz plus slasher Lesner there should be firepower inside and out. Now in the Suburban Christian Gold, Ferguson has brought in former Wheaton College coach Bill Harris to help out. Wheaton Academy is playing in the $9 million rehabbed Warrior Dome, and the Warriors will go to Glenbard West for Christmas. The potential is exciting, even after last year's finish, the best since 1998. "Our theme this year is hungry and humble," Ferguson said.
