Neuqua Valley Wildcats

Coach Todd Sutton.

Last year 31-2, 9-1, first in the Upstate Eight Conference; lost 64-59 to Dundee-Crown at the Class 4A Northern Illinois University supersectional.

Top players Kareem Amedu, sr., C; Dwayne Evans, sr., F; Ludwig Icevski, sr., G; Sam Johnson, jr., F; Alex Karkazis, jr., F; Blair Mgbada, sr., C; Rahjan Muhammad, sr., G; Kyle Pembrook, sr., F; Sean Pyritz, jr., G; Tyler Sutton, so., G; Greg Williams, sr., G.

Scouting report Evans (St. Louis University), Amedu (St. Michael's College) and Muhammad return after helping set a program record for wins, in a second straight Elite Eight year. Though 12th-year Wildcats coach Sutton (392-171 in 20 years overall) said All-Area picks Evans and Amedu look much better than last year's respective 15.0 and 10.7 scorers, much has changed. Muhammad will play point guard, switching from the two-guard where he made 44 3s. Gone are nine seniors, the deepest group of quality role players Neuqua's had, though Pembrook should be the lockdown defender. "People have got to step up. We're really thin right now. It's a mystery," Sutton said.
