Car crashes into Roselle store
A car crashed into a Roselle grocery store Tuesday morning, but there were no injuries, police said.
A female driver was pulling into a handicapped parking space and hit the gas instead of the brake, Roselle police Sgt. John Lawson said. The car struck and damaged the entrance and hit a brick retaining wall at Pik-Kwik Foods, 525 E. Irving Park Road.
The driver was not injured but her car was damaged.
Lawson said initial reports of another person suffering a minor injury from a brick falling on her foot were false.
Pik-Kwik owner Rick Bohlman said the store was forced to close for much of the day.
"Nobody got hurt and that's the important thing," he said. "We want to reopen but we're not rushing, because we want to make sure the property is safe and secure."
Damage estimates were not available Tuesday afternoon. Bohlman said workers were boarding up the damaged area.
