Vernon Hills man charged with raping teen

A Vernon Hills man was ordered held on $250,000 bond Monday after being charged with raping a 14-year-old girl.

Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Marc Bangser said Duncan Perley, 21, faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Bangser said the victim and an 18-year-old female friend took alcohol from the 18-year-old's house during the early morning hours of Sunday. They went to a secluded area and met Perley, of the 200 block of Mallard Court, and a 17-year-old friend of his and drank the alcohol, Bangser said.

The 14-year-old became extremely intoxicated, Bangser said, and Perley raped her.

Vernon Hills police found the girl later that morning, Bangser said, and took her to the station because she was intoxicated.

While she was at the police station, Bangser said, the girl told police she had been raped and identified Perley as her attacker.

Police interviewed Perley that afternoon, Bangser said, and he admitted raping the girl and said he knew how old she was.

Associate Judge Raymond Collins told Perley that if he posts the $25,000 needed for his release he is to have no contact with anyone under the age of 18.

Collins ordered Perley to appear in court again Dec. 2.
