Aurora
Marmion Academy in Aurora will hold its annual Veterans Day Observance Ceremony at 3:10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 at the academy gymnasium at 1000 Butterfield Road. The Marmion JROTC Cadet Corps will honor all veterans and especially deceased alumni veterans of war during the after school formation and parade. The public is welcome. The guest of honor at this year's ceremony is Leon Jennings of Aurora, a 1943 graduate of Marmion, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Batavia
• The Batavia Overseas Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1197, 645 S. River St., will host a Veterans Day program at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the hangar. State Sen. Chris Lauzen will be the keynote speaker. For details, visit bataviavfw.org or call (630) 879-9630.
• On Wednesday, Nov. 11, Heritage Woods of Batavia, 1079 E. Wilson St., will hold a Veterans Day Tribute at 3 p.m. where they will honor resident and local Veterans and current military members with a 45-minute performance by the Batavia High School Choir and Orchestra.
Elburn
The village of Elburn invites the community to attend the annual Veterans Day Parade at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11. The parade begins at the American Legion Post 630, 112 N. Main St. then proceeds south on Main Street (Route 47), turning east on North Street to end at the Veterans Memorial near village hall. For details, visit elburnpost630.org.
Elgin
• In honor of Veterans Day, the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way in Elgin, will host a free performance by The Falconaires, a division of the U.S. Air Force Academy Band, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11. Geneva
Local veterans are invited to attend the 13th annual Veteran's Day Ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Both Geneva Middle Schools North and South will honor our country's veterans at this special event, which will include student speeches, recognition of veterans, and a performance of "A Jefferson Portrait," a tribute to the Declaration of Independence. The ceremony will begin at 7:25 a.m. at Geneva Middle School South, 1415 Viking Drive.
North Aurora
The village of North Aurora will hold a memorial celebration at 2 p.m. Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11 at the Veteran's Memorial, Farview Drive and Willow Way. Join them as they honor the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. The Fox Valley Marines and the Batavia Veterans of Foreign Wars Post will be participating in this ceremony and presenting the color guard.
St. Charles
The third annual Veterans Celebration Concert will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 in the St. Charles North High School auditorium, off Route 31. This concert is a tribute to honor those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Veterans are invited to attend. The St. Charles North Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, and the Varsity Band will play a variety of inspirational pieces as a tribute to the veterans. South Elgin
• South Elgin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2327 and Ladies Auxiliary present the Veterans Day service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 at Panton Mill Park, on Water Street.
• Heritage Woods of South Elgin, 700 N. McLean Blvd., will be honoring all veterans with a special Veterans Day Remembrance Ceremony from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11. There will be a color guard presentation with special guests. Refreshments will be served.
Sugar Grove
Waubonsee Community College will host a Veterans Day Observance at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11 in the Academic and Professional Center on its Sugar Grove Campus, Route 47 at Waubonsee Drive. The event is free and open to the public. Along with the college's music department and student veterans, the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps unit from East Aurora High School will also participate in the observance. The program will include the presentation of colors, the national anthem, a reading of the president's veterans day proclamation, the placing of a memorial wreath and a drill team performance.
