Pilot punishment a wake-up to others

Two Delta/Northwest pilots were distracted and flew past their designated airport at about 500 miles per hour, and in ten to fifteen minutes overshot the runway by about 150 miles (no one got hurt and no accident occurred). So the FAA has revoked their license to fly.

Does this mean that the FAA is trying to give all the other pilots a wake-up call?
