Registration opens for programs at new Palatine rec center
The Palatine Park District has opened registration for a variety of winter programs taking place at the new Falcon Park Recreation Center, which is set to open in early January.
Programs will include classes for children and adults, covering fitness, dance and athletics.
The 49,200-square-foot center, which comes with a $12.5 million price tag, is just east of the new Toyota dealership at Hicks and Rand roads, a densely populated section of the village that had lacked adequate park facilities.
The rec center's amenities include an indoor turf field, gymnasium with basketball and volleyball courts, track and multipurpose room.

The Palatine Park District serves about 83,000 residents in Palatine and parts of Inverness, Arlington Heights, Hoffman Estates, Rolling Meadows and Schaumburg.
