Judge revokes bond for East Dundee repo man
A judge revoked bond Thursday for an East Dundee repo man accused of falsely reporting a vehicle stolen so police would look for it.
William C. Jessup, 47, of the 100 block of Villa Avenue, Addison, is charged with filing a false police report, false report of a vehicle theft and harassment by telephone.
On Thursday, Judge T. Jordan Gallagher revoked Jessup's bond in that case, as well as a pending, unrelated case, meaning he will remain in custody until the cases are resolved.
Jessup already is in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections because he was on parole at the time of his latest arrest, prosecutors said. His defense attorney argued he should be eligible for release because none of the charges against him involve violence.
Police said Jessup, formerly of Sugar Grove, reported a Ford Explorer stolen earlier this month while working in repossessions for a used-car dealer on Dundee Avenue in East Dundee.
Authorities said they later learned the vehicle had not, in fact, been stolen, but Jessup hoped reporting the theft would help him track it down. Police said he also made harassing calls to the owner.
In another case, Jessup also is accused of making threatening and flirtatious calls to the Kane County Clerk's Office in February, around the time he was paroled from Logan Correctional Center in a separate matter.
His next court date is Dec. 3.
