McHenry County man charged for tracking estranged wife's car

A 29-year-old McHenry County man is facing a felony stalking charge alleging he placed a tracking device on his estranged wife's car earlier this month to monitor her whereabouts.

Anthony H. Mosley, of the 600 block of Oak Street in Woodstock, appeared in court Thursday on the Class 4 felony charge stemming from claims he had the device in place from Oct. 19 to Oct. 22 before his wife discovered it and contacted police.

"She saw a blue flashing light under the dashboard and recognized it as something that did not belong there," Woodstock Police Chief Robert Lowen said. "Based on electronic evidence we were able to recover, we were able to determine he had used it to track the vehicle."

The device, according to court records, was installed the same day Mosley's wife obtained an emergency order of protection against him. Her petition seeking the order states that Mosley had been making harassing phone calls, sending her unwanted text messages and, in one incident early this month, struck her in the back during an argument. There are no charges stemming from that incident.

Mosley went free Thursday after posting $2,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court Nov. 5 on the criminal allegations and Nov. 9 on his wife's petition to extend the two-week emergency order of protection into one good for two years.

If convicted of the stalking charge, Mosley would face a maximum sentence of one to three years in prison.
