Drew Peterson suing bank over credit line

Former Bolingbrook Police Sgt. Drew Peterson, who is accused of killing his third wife, is suing JP Morgan Chase in federal court, accusing the bank of illegally cutting off his home equity credit line.

The lawsuit filed Monday in U.S. District Court contends that in May 2005, Peterson received a home equity credit line from Chase for $220,000. Attorney Walter Maksym, who represents Peterson in the lawsuit, says Peterson needs to use the credit line to post part of his bond, pay his attorneys and hire expert witnesses.

The bank suspended the credit line in May 2009, citing his imprisonment.

Peterson is currently being held on a $20 million bond in Will County on charges that he killed his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2004. Peterson's fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, has been missing since October 2007.
