Make cameras target the real danger
I am writing to you about those annoying red light cameras that seem to be popping up on every street intersection. The cameras are supposed to help increase safety at intersections by sending out automatic violations to people who drive through red lights.
This is a great idea, however, most of the tickets come from people who make right turns on red, which is not nearly as dangerous as driving straight through a red light. I do not think it is right that people are ticketed for making a turn on red, an action which is perfectly legal.
I believe that if officials continue to use these red light cameras, then they need to modify them so that they just target the real danger, not people making right turns.
