Three arrested in Hanover Park on drug charges

Three suburban men were being held in DuPage County jail over the weekend following arrests in Hanover Park on drug charges.

The arrests came after Hanover Park and Streamwood police, acting on complaints from the public, executed a search warrant Wednesday at 2001 Stairway Drive. Police reported finding 300 grams of cannabis and a handgun.

Tommie L. Smith, 53, of the 2000 block of Stairway, was charged with one felony count of unlawful delivery of cannabis and one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, police said.

Jimmie B. Smith, 54, of the same address, was charged with one felony count of unlawful delivery of cannabis. Manuel T. Porties, 29, of the 500 block of South State Street in Elgin, was charged with one felony count of unlawful delivery of cannabis, police said.

As of Saturday, Porties and Tommie Smith were both being held in the DuPage County jail on $350,000 bond, meaning they would have to post $35,000 to be released as the case moves forward. Jimmie Smith was being held on $70,000 bond, meaning he would have to post $7,000.
