Warner Tool & Die building razed in Cary
Cary officials are excited about the possibilities a soon-to-be vacant five-acre parcel can offer the town.
Demolition on the Bartlett Manufacturing Company began two weeks ago on North First Street.
Once that's finished, owner Doug Bartlett will prepare the land for future redevelopment possibilities. That process is expected to conclude in the spring, Mayor Tom Kierna said.
The original 7,600-square-foot building was constructed in the 1950s and housed Warner Tool and Die, Kierna said.
Several additions followed in the 1960s, 1970s and the 1980s, with Bartlett Manufacturing Co. moving to the five-acre parcel during the 1990s.
Earlier this year, Bartlett sold the business that manufactured printed circuit boards.
Although the parcel represents a very important piece of property, redevelopment proposals have not yet found their way to the village.
"There might not be people knocking down the doors today, but the land is valuable and I'm sure he'll have numerous interested parties," Village Administrator Cameron Davis said.
Demolition should be complete within the next six to eight weeks, Kierna said.
