Outlook Will the MSL's stingiest defense from Meadows (188.8 yards a game allowed) finish off an outright East title or will the league's most prolific offense in Prospect (474 yards a game) get a share of its sixth title since 2001? That and the battle of the MSL's top QBs in old friends Miles Osei of Prospect (1,630 yards passing, 14 TDs; 881 rushing, 14 TDs) and Jimmy Garoppolo of Meadows (1,389 yards passing, 14 TDs; 457 rushing, 5 TDs) also makes for quite a season finale. "The more playoff atmospheres you play in and the more playoff games you play in makes it good timing," Prospect coach Brent Pearlman said of the meeting. "I don't want to disrespect the East championship at all, but both teams are trying to set themselves up for the best possible playoff run." Meadows' defense led by senior DL Erick Louis-Charles has also seen big growth from underclassmen such as junior LBs Colin Buscarini, Sean Connor and Andrew Peters and will be tested by Osei, dual-threat Peter Bonahoom (744 yards rushing, 10 TDs; 23 catches, 622 yards, 8 TDs) and WR John Coen. "We can almost line up right now," Meadows coach Doug Millsaps joked of his young defense. "Now they're doing much better playing at the speed which allows them to have success." Can Prospect get enough stops against Garoppolo and his receiving corps of Tony Taibi (39 catches, 714 yards, 9 TDs), Marius Salkauskas, Scott Shewmon and Artie Checchin? "You talk about last year and this year and (Garoppolo) is a totally different quarterback," Pearlman said. "He's calm, poised and finds his receivers." Meadows sophomore RB Garrett Peterson got hurt last week and will return for the playoffs with Louis-Charles and sophomore callup Tyler Bobowski splitting carries. Prospect won 42-7 last year and leads the series 20-17.
