Schaumburg cops make $10K cocaine bust
A monthlong probe has led to the arrest of a possible gang member and the confiscation of $10,000 of cocaine, Schaumburg police said.
Nathan L. Rousseau, 35, of the 1700 block of Poplar Place in Schaumburg, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home without incident, Nebl said. Police charged Rousseau, a convicted felon who's believed to be a gang member, with felony unlawful possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, Nebl added.
Police found 5 ounces, or 134 grams, of cocaine with an estimated street value of $10,000, several cell phones and equipment used to cook crack cocaine, Nebl said. Investigators are also working to seize Rousseau's car and more than $2,000, Nebl added.
Schaumburg police received tips that Rousseau was dealing drugs from Palatine and federal officials working with HIDTA, or the High Intensity Drug Traffic Area program, Nebl said.
Rousseau was arrested in 2003 by Schaumburg police at a different apartment complex and went to prison on the same charge, Nebl said. Rousseau was released from prison this year.
Wednesday, a Cook County judge set Rousseau's bond at $300,000 for the new charge, but he's being held without bond for breaking his parole, authorities said.
Rousseau's next court date is Nov. 18.
