Sept. 18: A truly special day
Friday, Sept. 18 was a particularly busy day in the Bloomingdale area where, among other things, a manhunt was taking place across the Western suburbs. But one of the things that occurred in the area on that day, the luncheon to benefit Western DuPage Special Recreation Association at Outback Steakhouse on Gary Avenue, was a glowing example of what is good in DuPage County.
More than 100 local business leaders, friends and families gathered to enjoy a fantastic meal, support a dynamic not-for-profit organization and for just an hour and a half forget about everything else that was going on.
Thank you to each of our guests for supporting this effort. Everyone learned a little bit more about an agency that offers recreational programming for individuals with special needs in nine communities throughout the Western DuPage County. And local business people were able to enjoy a wonderful meal, network with others, and help out the community.
Western DuPage Special Recreation Association is very grateful to Outback Steakhouse proprietor, Salomon Diaz, and his generous crew of servers and cooks for their incredible service. This group did a magnificent job as evidenced by the many happy guests that day. Through Outback's generosity, WDSRA was able to keep all of the proceeds from tickets sold to this event. These contributions will help WDSRA continue to provide quality recreation programs that help those with special needs.
