Barrington happy to share title

The Illinois High School Association has informed Barrington girls coach Jodi Schoeck that her Fillies are considered 2009 Class AA regional co-champions.

Barrington and St. Viator tied for the Conant regional title two weeks ago with scores of 345, and St. Viator was awarded the team berth for the sectional competition due to the fifth-score tiebreaker.

However, IHSA Associate Executive Director Sue Hinrichsen informed Schoeck that the Fillies and Lions will each be awarded co-regional championships in the record books.

"So that is lucky seven in a row," said Schoeck, whose Fillies have now won or tied for seven straight regional crowds.

"As soon as I talked with Sue, I texted our varsity squad," Schoeck said. "Then I sent e-mails to all the parents. It is such great news. I couldn't wait for our Senior Night to tell everyone."
