Geneva school offers parenting workshops
Parents are invited to sign up for "Parent to Parent," a popular series of parenting workshops based on Bill Oliver's updated series, "Parent to Parent 2000/Lessons Learned." Geneva Unit District 304 will host this series to give parents advice and guidance on raising children in the 21st century.
Two classes, each containing four sessions, are scheduled this fall to provide parents with direction and guidance in their battle against the "Toxic Culture" in which they are forced to raise their children today. The program is valuable to parents of children of any age and covers such topics as recognizing the signs and symptoms of an unhealthy child, the battle against teen drinking and drug use, the dangers of the Internet, and identifying the common traps parents fall into with children, among others.
Class I will be held from 7 to 9:15 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 19 to Nov. 9.
Class II will be held from noon to 2:15 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 12, 19, Dec. 3 and 10.
While it is recommended that participants attend all four sessions of each class, it is not required. Participants can make up a missed session by attending with a different class. For example, if you are in Class I, but can't make the third session on Nov. 2, you can join Class II for their third session on Dec. 3.
All sessions will be held in the lower level conference room at the district administrative offices, 227 N. Fourth St. All sessions are free of charge.
