Vernon Hills man dies from crash injuries

The 81-year-old victim of a two-car accident in Vernon Hills died of his injuries Thursday evening.

Thomas Madole of Vernon Hills was pronounced dead at 7:40 p.m. at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The crash occurred on the northbound lanes of Butterfield Road near Plymouth Farms about 6:45 p.m.

A 55-year-old female occupant removed from the vehicle Madole was in also was taken to the hospital by the Countryside Fire Protection District. Her condition was unavailable Friday night.

Fire personnel did not transport anyone from the second car, which had at least two people, possibly a teenager and his mother, authorities said.

The Vernon Hills Police Department is investigating the crash. No citations have been issued or charges filed in the accident.
