Larkin, Streamwood earn regional wins

Larkin 4, Rockford Jefferson 0: The Royals (6-15-3) came out strong in their Class 3A Huntley regional match against Rockford Jefferson defeating the J-Hawks 4-0.
Tony Hernandez and Josue Medina paced Larkin's offense with 1 goal and 1 assist apiece. Ivan Maldanado and Erik Rodriguez scored the Royals' other two goals while Roberto Torres added an assist. Santiago Guerero earned the shutout in goal with 1 save.
The Royals will now face top-seeded South Elgin, which Larkin upset just weeks ago in Upstate Eight Conference action, at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday at Huntley.
Streamwood 7, Proviso East 0: The Sabres (6-14-4) cruised to an easy 7-0 victory over Proviso East in the Class 3A St. Charles East regional quarterfinal match. Ivan Arce led Streamwood's offensive attack with a hat trick while Alex Perez picked up 1 goal and 3 assists. Rolando Moreno added 2 goals and Alajandro Avalos also picked up 1 goal. Edgar Leyva saved 3 shots on goal while preserving the shutout.
The Sabres return to action on Tuesday against No. 2 seed Geneva at St. Charles East at 5 p.m.
Bartlett 2, St. Charles East 0: The Hawks (14-5, 7-3) pulled off an Upstate Eight Conference road victory Saturday morning defeating St. Charles East 2-0. Alex Ortiz got Bartlett on the board midway through the first half as he scored an unassisted goal to give the Hawks a 1-0 halftime lead. Joe McCullough then found Anthony DiNuzzo who put the ball in the back of the net for an insurance goal in the 65th minute for the victory.
