Scouting Montini @ Wheaton Academy
Montini (4-3) at Wheaton Academy (5-2)
Nonconference
Game time: 7 p.m. today, Wheaton College.
Last year: Did not play.
Last week: Montini 41, Aurora Central 10; Wheaton Academy 35, Immaculate Conception 15.
Outlook: In this Suburban Christian Conference crossover on Wheaton Academy's senior night the pressure falls on Montini to get that fifth win for playoff eligibility. The Broncos have a 16-year run on the line. Quarterback Brandon Pechloff, who has passed for 1,605 yards, 23 touchdowns and 9 interceptions, warmed up last week with touchdown passes to Nick Campanella, Christian Westerkamp and 2 to Jordan Westerkamp, who has 11 touchdown grabs and 26 yards a catch. Campanella's 97-yard touchdown run set a school record. Meanwhile, Wheaton Academy played what coach Ben Wilson called the Warriors' best game of 2009, ousting IC from the playoffs with Kai Libby's 96 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns, Brian Pell's 247 yards passing and 2 touchdowns, and Anthony Ritchie's 8 tackles, 2 sacks and 7 catches. "We've got to contain their skill kids while still putting points up ourselves," said Montini coach Chris Andriano. "I think it's going to be kind of a high-scoring game." With all this firepower, however, it'll come down to defense, line play and turnovers.
Next week Montini at Marmion; Wheaton Academy at St. Edward.
