Outlook A week after being eliminated from the playoffs for the first time since 1999, the goal for the Hawks is to make the best of the final two weeks of the season. "We're having a little more fun in practice and just enjoying the time we have left," said Bartlett coach Tom Meaney, who expressed his appreciation for the effort this group has exerted throughout the season. "Hopefully, everyone can play the last couple of games. We'll play a lot of people and see how it goes." The Hawks will travel to South Holland to take on the sliding Thurnderbirds, who have lost 6 straight games since a 6-0 victory in the season opener against Bloom. "They're an interesting team," Meaney said. "They're 1-6, but they have a quarterback who can throw the ball. A lot of his throws have been right at people, but sometimes they drop it. They've had to pass most of the year, which is probably why their passing game is as good as it is." Though the playoff opportunity is lost, the Hawks could still play a major factor in the Upstate Eight Conference race as a possible spoiler. Next week Bartlett will play its final home game against Lake Park (6-1, 5-0), which enters Week 8 tied for first place in the conference with St. Charles East.
