CMA back in court over minimum wage
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan filed suit against Bloomingdale's CMA Direct and its president, Catherine Macaione, in Cook County Circuit Court Wednesday to recover a settlement for violating the state's Minimum Wage Law and assess damages.
The suit is seeking $33,455.52, with punitive damages doubling the amount it claims is owed employees at CMA's Temporary Leasing Professionals.
According to the suit, CMA and Macaione agreed to pay $13,452.97 to settle the suit in 2007, with 10 monthly payments to begin that May, but never made any of the installments.
The Illinois Department of Labor investigated CMA in 2004 and found it did not pay merited overtime.
The company's phone number answered to a recording indicating that the number had been disconnected, with no further information.
