Aurora man charged in alleged hit-and-run accident
A 26-year-old Aurora man has been charged with multiple driving offenses for his role in a Friday afternoon accident that left another Aurora man in critical condition.
David Solis, of the 1000 block of Sard Avenue, has been charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, driving with a suspended license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. He remains in Kane County jail.
Police said the SUV driven by Solis crashed into a truck about 2:45 p.m. Friday in the 1000 block of E. New York Street.
Solis is believed to have fled the scene on foot, but returned roughly 45 minutes later. The driver and sole occupant of the truck was not injured in the accident and was released at the scene.
The front passenger of the sport utility vehicle, 31-year-old Elvis Hernandez, was incapacitated and needed to be extricated from the vehicle by Aurora firefighters. Hernandez was transported to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora where he remains in critical condition.
