Outlook This is only the fifth meeting between the Hawks and Saints since Bartlett joined the Upstate Eight in 1998. Bartlett leads the series 3-1, but the teams haven't faced each other in five years. The Saints erased an 11-point, fourth-quarter deficit last week to win at Waubonsie Valley and remain tied with Lake Park for first place in the Upstate Eight. Bartlett's tough-to-swallow loss to South Elgin, a game it led 14-0 at the half, leaves the Hawks fighting for their playoff lives. They must sweep St. Charles East, Thornwood (1-5) and Lake Park (5-1) to extend the program's playoff streak to 10 straight years. "It was a tough loss last week, and they know now their backs are against the wall," Bartlett coach Tom Meaney said of his players. "For a chance to make the playoffs we have to win three in a row. It's going to be awfully difficult. We have tough competition with St. Charles East and Lake Park (5-1) coming up, but they're up for the challenge. We're just taking it one at a time right now. The kids are disappointed because we've made the playoffs nine times in a row and they don't want to disappoint us. They don't want to break that streak." Bartlett's defense must contend with St. Charles East's huge offensive line, the biggest in the UEC. The Saints have rushed for 1,236 yards this season. Bartlett's defense has allowed 740.
